Joe Leonard (b. 1993) is a multidisciplinary artist based in Columbus, Ohio. His paintings celebrate the beauty of the everyday by transforming ordinary subjects into vibrant visual experiences that invite reflection, nostalgia, and joy. Leonard elevates familiar objects and scenes through bold compositions, saturated color, and rhythmic line. Rather than documenting specific moments, his work leaves space for viewers to bring their own memories to each painting. A picnic with family, a neighborhood deli visited on vacation, or ice cream shared with friends on a hot afternoon all become part of the experience. These familiar moments encourage viewers to reconnect with the people, places, and experiences that have shaped their lives.

After earning his B.S. in Finance and Marketing from Miami University in 2015, Leonard spent several years working in the banking industry before pursuing his passion for the arts. In 2020, he relocated to California to study oil painting at the Laguna College of Art and Design, where he developed a strong foundation in classical painting and drawing. This training instilled a disciplined, methodical approach to craftsmanship that continues to inform his practice.

Blending traditional oil painting techniques with influences from midcentury modern design, vintage advertising, and pop art, Leonard creates a visual language that feels both timeless and contemporary. His work celebrates thoughtful design in both nature and the built environment while finding wonder in subjects that are often overlooked. By enlarging and simplifying the familiar, he encourages viewers to slow down, look more closely, and rediscover the joy found in everyday life.
